Summary:
The Tibetan plateau, the world's tallest topographical protuberance, is called the roof of the world. It is the highest ground of the high grounds. With total area of 1.2 million square kilometers, Tibet is covered by giant mountains and most of their peaks over 5,000 meters are blanketed by snow all year round. These areas have the world's largest numbers of steep canyons. Believing in the Buddha, every Tibetan household has its own Buddhist altar. The fluttering white flags inscribed with Buddhist scriptures can be found all over Tibet. Every Tibetan has his own metal medallions hanging from his chest and prayer wheels turning in his hands. The Tibetans are warm, generous and outgoing people and they are fond of songs and dances. Those living in tents, drinking milk tea, believing in Lama, and with weird customs, are the most mysterious people to our outsiders.
