Summary:
Divided by the Gobi Desert, the Mongolia was unfortunately transformed into two different political entities. The Inner Mongolia, though an autonomous region of China, was traditionally and culturally linked with the Mongolian People's Republic (MPR). The Inner Mongolia has an extremely harsh continental climate. The winters are long and extremely cold. Huhohaote, formerly known as Kueisui, is the provincial capital and a trading and frontier administrative center. The MPR gained its independence in 1921 with the support from the Russia. The people of this country gradually changed their live styles of nomadic herdsmen into industrial inhabitants. The biggest occasion in this area is Naadam festival. Mongolians believe that Naadam festival is a heroes' gathering and started from the time of Genghis Khan. From that time on, Naaddam became the playground for horseracing and wrestling and also an attraction for tourists.
