Ren Fei'er, a beautiful girl who has come to Shanghai to take a dance entrance test, accidentally rents a room in a flat where lives Yi Tian, a male IT expert who has just returned from America after several years of overseas studies. Though living in the same flat, they are completely different in profession, character and living habits and so conflicts often occur between them. In the same flat, another girl called Liu Lian and man called Kang Ping seem to live in harmony with each other nut there is an insurmountable barrier between them for Liu Lian cherishes deep affection for Yi Tian in spite of Kang Ping's love for her. Kang Ping, however, is determined to win her heart back with his perseverance. Yi Tian sets up a company to develop software of games in cooperation with the computer company for which Kang Ping works with Ren Fei'er working for them as a model. Her daily contact with Yi Tian rouses love for each other in their hearts which makes Liu Lian greatly jealous. And so she takes every opportunity to hinder them. Through many setbacks Ren Fei'er and Yi Tian begins to love openly when Yi Tian's first lover (his college classmate) Han Yi also returns from America. Their reunion rouses their former affection, leaving Ren Fei'er dancing alone on the stage with lilac petals drifting in the sky.
